In 'The Desire To Disappear', Dusseldorf artist Max Schulze's work approaches a yearning for invisibility, to go underground, to become impossible to find. He falls back on camouflage, using patterns from different eras and regions that somehow might limit the ever-growing archive of personal information that remains "out there somewhere", in the form of posts, selfies, and GPS locations. His colourful impressions of camouflage are part of a site-specific solo exhibition in the Museum Ratingen, which also highlights three more recent series in which he asks where and in what way painting is created today.
