Necrophonia documents a collaborative exhibition by longtime friends Urs Fischer and Georg Herold at The Modern Institute in Glasgow during the summer of 2011.Transforming the gallery space into a studio, the artists created figurative clay sculptures based on poses performed by models from a nearby art school. For the duration of the exhibition, the resulting sculptures – made of unfired clay, so that they cracked and started to disintegrate over time – were exhibited alongside the live nude models they were derived from, activating the exhibition space with a charged human presence and establishing a relationship between the real and its representation.Published retrospectively after the exhibition Urs Fischer & Georg Herold at The Modern Institute, Glasgow, 2 July – 3 September 2011.
