Yasushi Ide follows his Vintage Shirt & Poster books with Jazz;
"It all started with Miles Davis. The inspiration stemmed from the idea that it would be intriguing to organize an exhibition solely featuring Miles Davis posters. I began collecting them little by little. As I reflect further, the encounter with a poster of Chet Baker’s “Let’s Get Lost” around the year 2000 might have been the initial spark that set the stage for the story unfolding today.”
In the monochrome photographs, there was that shade of blue. Just like the Yves Klein Blue, the “Let’s Get Lost” blue was there.
While focusing primarily on posters, I also delved into flyers. I would like to highlight the inclusion of booklets in the collection. Featuring booklets from shows in Japan, each one showcases exceptional quality. It is astonishing to realize that artists like these were visiting Japan during that Era. This could be another “swamp” to deep dive into. "
"Yasushi Ide's This Is How I Feel About Jazz is a kaleidoscopic view of the visual language of jazz through his eyes. It serves as a useful reference for fans of the artists, labels, music, and design while also being purely entertaining. I completely understand the compulsion to organize and scrapbook one's obsessions, which is one of the reasons why we've become fast friends."
