SLEEVE NOTES presents 150 fan-made inner record sleeves, dating between 1950 and 2000 and collected by Crazy Beat Records - a local second-hand music store in Essex. Celebrating the passion and creativity of music lovers, the collection foregrounds historic fans' dedication to physical media. Preserving a pre-internet era of devotion, the meticulous tributes of SLEEVE NOTES recall a time when music ownership was sealed with a fan's own handiwork. SLEEVE NOTES features sleeves collected and photographed by artist and documentarian Dominique Russell, alongside a foreword by her father Kevan Russell of Crazy Beat Records and the collection's originator. The book spotlights 150 45s and 12-inch sleeves across 160 pages. From classics like Highway 61 Revisited to rarities like Baptised By Dub, SLEEVE NOTES features designs rendered in everything from collage to crayon.
