This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Crossing the Channel: Friendships and Connections in Paris and London 1946-1965 at Gagosian, Davies Street, London. It examines the vibrant exchange of ideas between Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, and Alberto Giacometti in Paris and London, spanning the consequential years between 1946, when international borders reopened after the war, and 1965, the year of Giacometti's retrospective at Tate, London. A three-piece-bound hardcover, the catalogue presents an illustrated essay by Pilar Ordovas about the artists and their milieu, reproduced on a French-fold signature. Alongside reproductions of the exhibited seven paintings and two sculptures, the publication also includes notes on the works and their sitters and an appendix with an account of Giacometti by British Arts Council director Robert Campbell.
