The second volume of a retrospective overview of the 11th edition of the Lyon Biennale, entitled 'A Terrible Beauty is Born', which was curated by Victoria Noorthoorn and gathered work by 78 artists from around the world. The exhibition's focus on two parallel programmes, 'Veduta' and 'Resonance', involved various local actors and cultural and artistic institutions from the Lyon conurbation in an exploration of the diversity of visual cultures guided by the core ideas of convergence and participation. Densely illustrated across more than 600 pages, the book documents work by Yona Friedman, Augusto de Campos, Eduardo Basualdo, Robert Filliou, John Cage and many others.
