The solo exhibition by Marinus Boezem at Amsterdam's Oude Kerk in 2016 presented the largest number of new works by the Dutch conceptual artist in many years. A certain levity is typical of his work, for which he often makes use of intangible elements such as wind, air, and transparency. His love of Gothic architecture is related to the notion that cathedrals embody our desire to fly, to leave earthly things behind. The exhibition centres on the idea of verticality and offers a new perspective on Boezem's oeuvre, allowing us to reinterpret his historical works through the prism of his most recent projects. With text contributions by Nathalie Zonnenberg, Lorenzo Bruni, and others.
