Tatsuya Ariyama presents 'The Shape of Sound', a book born out of the curiosity of an audiophile and music lover in search of an answer to the eternal question: what makes "good sound"? Ariyama, who mainly works in the field of magazines, books, and art direction, wrote and designed the book. It features interviews and photographs from his travels to Shizuoka, Akita, Chiba, and even London to meet with people who devote their life to sound. On his quest he witnessed the process of cutting records, an electric circuit board from 30 years ago, a stylus shaved out of natural diamond, and the painstaking restoration of record players manufactured 50 years ago.
