Nigel Peake - Shiori

'Shiori' pairs the last words from 52 stories from ‘Invisible Cities’ (1972), a novel by Italian journalist and writer of short stories Italo Calvino (1923–1985), with Nigel Peak’s uncomplicated illustrations of geometrical shapes, repetitive lines and patterns, and bold fields of colour. The result is a visual and poetical meditation on minimalism, one in which the viewer is asked to consider the hidden meanings underlying these associations as each page is turned.
