Atsushi Fukushima - I Deliver Bento Boxes To The Houses Of Old People Living Alone

After graduating from the Photography Department of Osaka University of Arts in 2004, Atsushi Fukushima spent ten years working part-time as a delivery driver of ready-made meals for elderly people living alone in the city of Kawasaki. At first he was shocked by the dismal living conditions of the people for whom he provided food each day, and he began to take his camera with him to record the situation. His compassion and care eventually allowed him to build relationships with them as a friend. Through his photographs, Fukushima challenges us to consider some undeniable truths surrounding an aging society, caring for the elderly, facing death, and life in old age.
