Vali Asr - Faces of a street in Tehran

Valiasr is the longest street in the Iranian capital of Tehran, stretching twenty kilometres across this metropolis of fourteen million people. It is a centre of cultural life and a major commercial hub and nightlife area. Photographic anecdotes by Jorg Winde depict the people who live and work along the street. The images reflect an attentiveness and closeness to the subjects, and attest to the contradictory lives of people in Iran today. Interspersed are street views against the scenic backdrop of the snow-covered Alborz Mountains.
