Since the 1960s, Japanese artist Mishima Kimiyo has been preoccupied by consistently producing works using the same motifs in vast numbers. While some of the newspaper and magazine clippings she employs are deliberately selected, the core of her practice lies not in these individual meanings but in the overall media context and the consequences of the consumer age. This comprehensive monograph extends from the use of collage in her early paintings to working with ceramics and incorporating silkscreens of newspapers and flyers starting in the 1970s and beyond. Her creative process relies heavily on ritual, but is also the pursuit of what she describes as "fun".
