Pablo Bronstein’s joyfully sardonic homage to the world of food, including recent paintings and drawings, most of them reproduced for the first time, and 27 photographs by the artist, covering food production from factories to desserts. With full-colour images and details of thirty-five recent paintings and drawings, covering vast aspects of food production and presentation, Cuisine spins a narrative of surreal excess and decadence. The paintings depict a compendium of factories, implements, cutlery, and actual foodstuffs in Bronstein’s signature irreverent and historic style. Most of the works are reproduced here for the first time and are accompanied by descriptive captions penned by the artist. A further twenty-seven black-and-white photographs were taken by Bronstein especially for the publication, showcasing cakes and desserts, sculpted by him, that evoke the unpalatable and overwrought creations found in early twentieth-century recipe books.
