Carla Klein creates large oil paintings filled with emptiness, conveying a world that feels abandoned. She searches for a certain anonymity in monotonous landscapes while also exploring the interplay between digital and analogue mediums, probing the complexities of image creation and interpretation. Drawing from her own photographs, transitioned from negative to snapshot to canvas, her landscapes take on new meanings, detached from their origins. Rather than reproductions, her painted works are interpretations, shedding light on how contemporary visual culture shapes our perception. This monograph coincides with her first solo museum exhibition in the Netherlands.
