Dagobert Peche, one of the most eccentric designers of Viennese Modernism, virtually blew apart the stylistic idiom of the famous Wiener Werkstatte: with opulent decorations inspired by nature and a revolutionary aesthetic, he lent practical objects a hitherto unknown complexity. Peche worked with a wide range of materials-silver, glass, ceramic, leather, and paper-designing jewelry, furniture, and exhibition displays, as well as sensational fabric patterns. In little over a decade he created an oeuvre that has fascinated and inspired the worlds of art and design ever since. Divided into seven chapters-from "Arcadia" to "Uncanny"-this publication is dedicated to the artist's unique cosmos and traces his impact from Art Deco to Postmodernism to the present day.
