New textile collages and sculptures by a Roma artist whose themes are the everyday worlds and myths of Roma culture Mirga-Tas attracted a lot of attention with her contribution to the "RomaMoMA" space at the Fridericianum at documenta 15 in 2022. A Roma herself, she depicted the transition of the Romani people in the 1960s and 70s from a nomadic to a settled life. In her new, colourful pictures on cardboard and canvas, she again uses different materials including textiles, furs, pearls, and feathers to show everyday worlds and myths of Roma culture, inspired, among others, by the vividly coloured pictures of African artist Kerry James Marshall.
