Le Palais des Reves is the latest instalment in The Artist Formally Known as Robert Rubbish's psychogeographic series of fictional surrealist biographies. This new work circles around the places that seem central to the ghostly speaker's own life, moving with a disorienting speed across a Europe heavy with memory, art, poetry and the speaker's personal histories. London, Paris, the Channel Islands-these are the haunted backdrops to the speaker's peregrinations, sparking thoughts, images and recollections in a series of diaristic snapshots of a life presented in all its strange richness.
