House of Nisaba presents a return to allegory in contemporary figurative painting. Over twenty artists present new works in a site- specific environment created by the architects Formafantasma. The concept of House of Nisaba emerges from an encounter with Giorgio Vasari's intricate allegorical ceiling in Naples, leading to reflections on how contemporary figurative painting has lost a shared symbolic language. Instead, today's artists build meaning through subjective, fragmented references. Nisaba-the ancient Sumerian goddess of writing-returns as a guiding figure for a new narrative impulse in painting. The exhibition gathers 28 artists exploring allegory, figuration, narrative, eisegesis, and biography through strategies like autofiction, quiet, and disidentification.
