'The Marches' is a photographic project by Terry A. Ratzlaff, made with horologist Greg Arp inside his Nebraska clock shop. Arp repaired clocks, restoring their ability to mark time, while Ratzlaff's photography pauses and suspends time. The project explores how people try to construct, measure, and control time. Ratzlaff uses recovered objects to create photograms and assembled still lifes. Archival imagery and documents are collected as a way to trace the arc of time within the shop. After Arp's death, thousands of objects are catalogued, transforming the project into an inventory of loss, preservation, and shared labour beyond linear time itself.
