The magazine undertakes an exploration of prefabrication. Architecture and construction are facing increasingly severe challenges, such as rising building costs, environmental load countermeasures, a shortage of engineers and labourers, and the separation of design and construction. But the urgent need for more housing around the world remains. This issue focuses on four groups who are pursuing solutions by experimenting with prefab: ELEMENTAL (Chile), SUMMARY (Portugal), Ensamble Studio (Spain), and People's Architecture Office (China/US). As innovators, they believe that architecture is not only realised in the finished building but also in the design process itself.
