Fatima Ouassak's 'Pirate Ecology', with a new introduction by Arturo Escobar, is the third release in a series of works-in-translation dedicated to relaying writings by intellectuals and activists from the non-Anglophone world. She addresses the urgent need for change-making projects in Europe, like one that views land liberation, animal liberation, and equal human dignity as fundamentally intersecting; one that envisages secession in the face of increasingly threatening right-wing extremist forces; or one that articulates anchoring on land with freedom of movement. Ouassak is a French feminist, environmentalist, anti-racist activist, and public policy consultant.
